‘Udta Punjab’, post all the hue and cry, is up for release on June 17th.
I’m aware of this fact because the past week’s newspapers had this matter covered on the first page. Apparently the most sensational news!
Tune into any FM channel and you’ll only hear the RJs discussing the issue taking into account the opinion of anyone they can grab hold of!
All this drama is bound to fetch the movie an excellent box office collection.
I can hardly wait for this weekend to watch the movie that’s finally releasing!
Wait a second.
I’m talking about ‘Finding Dory’, the much awaited sequel to Finding Nemo, that also happens to release on the 17th of June!
I can bet you the search for Dory will transport me to a place far away from Punjab! 😛
No, I’m not living in denial. Maybe the issue the movie is trying to deal with is real. Drugs, rape, killing – this is a part of the world we live in today but I have always lived in my make-believe world!
I grew up with Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmine and the rest of them in a land where everyone invariably ‘…. lived happily ever after’. Harry Potter got me to believe in magic so much so that I hoped the day would come when I’d find a letter to Hogwarts on my doorstep.
Don’t you agree with me on the fact that almost all animated movies have good values and lessons attached to them? Ones that the audience can happily take home.
I mean take Kung Fu Panda for instance. Master Shifu trying his best to encourage Po says “If you do only what you can do you’ll never be more than what you are now”. Who would have ever thought of Po being the Dragon Warrior? Did Po ever imagine that it would be HIM? It was only when his father revealed to him that the Secret Ingredient in his soup was nothing and that things become special if they are believed to be, did Po realise that he COULD be the Dragon Warrior if he believed.
If you open your eyes, ears, mind and heart you’ll realise that all these movies only want to convey one strong message – Believe in yourself.
Like I said, the world has its share of bad and negativities but that need NOT become YOUR world. If there are people like me who live in their make-believe world, let them!
The world could really do with some love and care! Do your best to spread these around!
With all this preaching I do, maybe the next Disney or DreamWorks animated movie could feature me!! I’m no less a cartoon character!
P.S. The brightest side of animated movies – You don’t have to worry about the Honey that can’t Sing! 😀
