I am Sneha, a mother of two lil boys, a wife of a guy who loves his bike a wee bit more than his bayko, a qualified C.A. that never wants anything to do with numbers in her life!
‘Buttercup’ – Why the name?? Please tell me you didn’t think of Powerpuff Girls!
That’s the pet-name of Rosie Dunne, the protagonist in one of my favorite novels, ‘Where Rainbows End,’ by Cecelia Ahern. For the unversed, she’s an Irish novelist, my inspiration to be a writer someday!
You know that feeling when you read a book and you keep experiencing that “Oh my God, that’s so ME!?” You want to believe that the character was made just for you! Rosie is that for me.
With an exception of one life-altering incident in her life, Buttercup is not very different from me.
- She’s crazy and confused (don’t even ask!)…
- She’s unorganised, unsystematic and acts on impulse!
But the real connection? It’s our common love for letters.
Also, the friend who gifted me the book on my birthday decided to gift me the name. So it stays!
More about me:
- I’m left handed so I like to believe that I’m meant to pursue a career in creativity
- I’m passionate about words and one of my biggest pet peeves is the use of wrong English like lose vs loose! Some call me a Grammar Nazi!
- I’m slow but steady and persistent. So said the tortoise!
All of this I realized only after:
3 years of Accounting & Finance + 6 months of MBA classes + 6 attempts at C.A.!!! 😀
Love List:
1) Books – I have always loved reading, thanks to my Amma. Maybe it was the weekly visits to the local library with her that got me into the habit. It started with Enid Blyton, then some coming-of-age, then romance, then thrillers. Now it’s Curious George and The Hungry Caterpillar or a Happy Elephant or some other animal! When in desperate need for comfort-reading, there’s always the Archie’s comics!
2) Music – I’m trained in carnatic music for 8 years (but you ask me to sing at a function, and watch me pull a vanishing act!). Call me fussy but I have a limited collection of favourites that I plan to listen to for the rest of my life! As I grow, my choice of singer-composer changes. Also, I cannot feign a love for English music except for My heart will go on by Celine Dion.
3) Food – I love food. Don’t you let my current figure deceive you, I’m just blessed. I wasn’t called ‘a living cheese-ball’ by my family for nothing! I’d rather you take me to a café than get me anything expensive or branded. Jewellery, bags, etc. don’t excite me! A pizza is all I need to make me the happiest person on earth! I love cooking and on days I feel generous I’d rate myself a 8/10!
4) Coffee – Nothing comes between me and coffee. Except maybe the Starbucks bill.
5) Travel – Mountains and beaches and Kerala! Every trip that I make is complete not when I get back to Home Sweet Home but only when I pour out all the details and experiences on my blog.
6) Memories – I visit the PAST more often than stay in the PRESENT. I’m a hoarder. I love collecting pretty boxes and diaries with the hopes of filling them up with memories and the most random souvenirs.
Cheers 🙂
