My current issue: Which team do I choose?
Wondering what this is all about??? What team could Sneha possibly be talking about unless it’s Quidditch where, undoubtedly, she’s a Gryffindor at heart. It can’t be any REAL sport for sure! I mean, c’mon…. We’re talking about the girl who refused to train for basketball under her own dad only because he made her run the grounds for warm-up! The one that watched test matches because she was in love with Rahul Dravid, IPL because she found Glenn Mc Grath handsome! No tennis, no badminton, no sport has ever held her interest!
What the hell is this ‘TEAM CHOICE’ dilemma then???
Guess what!? It’s FOOTBALL!
June 20th, 2017 – The day I joined ‘Liger Consultancy’. Oh Lord, has my life changed since then!!!
I started train travel, more out of compulsion than choice! I’ve come to learn that my being thin is extremely advantageous! I’ve also decided to keep ballet as a backup profession, given that I can stand on my toes for an impressive amount of time!
For those of you who don’t know about my getting a job, I’m sorry for this delayed update. I’ve just been letting all of the excitement sink in! It was a job after my article-ship of three years, that ended three years ago! Well, thankfully it wasn’t a job that required me to be a CA. A very special friend of mine from PwC started off on his own a few months ago and he needed me to join him! What better than to join a friend in his OWN company!? (At least for me! You may want to ask him what he thinks about having a disaster around!)
On day one at Liger, I knew I was where I belonged. It didn’t take too long for me to settle myself mentally, in the sense, to get rid of all the negativity that CA had given rise to! Of course, all that’s a thing of the past now that I’m a CA. My perseverance did pay off and I’m proud of myself to have taken this challenge so seriously! A part of me did want to give up and move on but I know I couldn’t have lived with the guilt of quitting mid-way. At Liger, nobody cared about my degree mostly because they knew I was going to make it but more importantly because the degree didn’t define who I was! I mean who needs a ‘CA’ degree when you know what you’re actually born to do! Read on to know more 😛
It’s only been two months but it feels like I’ve been here for ages! I have surpassed levels of eccentricity that I never knew to exist, hence earning the title ‘Epitome of Eccentricity’. I guess one could conclude that all the craziness that was bottled up inside me for these two years (thanks to CA) has been RELEASED! The best part of this whole situation is that my folks at work love me for who and how I am! In fact, they helped me discover my talent! I’m a born Stand-up Comedian! Did you guys even know that!!!?? All I need to do is Stand-up. Result is Comedy! That I talk nonsense most of the time, is a known fact but I never thought it would be fodder to those around me! What makes this easier and more enjoyable for them is the fact that I provide them reasons to tease me! Like they say “Aa bail mujhe maar!” My stories of disasters could definitely make a bestseller!
So let me give you an example of the comments that I attract! One of my best friends at work politely left me a note one day;
‘You must have been born on a highway because that’s where most of the accidents happen!’
With friends like him who needs enemies!! 😛
P.S. If you would like to subscribe to this brilliant humor, contact ME!
WAIT! Before you guys doubt the type of place I work in and the kind of work I do, let me tell you it’s one awesome place! We are a bunch of efficient, innovative, creative and productive consultants! Don’t believe me, come see us at work! You won’t be disappointed! Plus, you have me for entertainment! Now isn’t that an added bonus?
Back to where I started. The Football Team thing. Since these guys fail to realise that I’m a girl, during those rare times when I shut my mouth, they discuss football with me, around me! (No offence to girls who love football. I only wanted to point out the fact that wearing pink doesn’t stop guys in my life from considering me as one of them!) With three ardent United supporters, I get access to an ocean of football information! So much so that I could soon have my own wikipage on United! And if that wasn’t enough, I’m made to listen to songs on United! (I got to confess, the catchy Punjabi single ‘Man United da fan’ by Gursehaj Saini played a big role in turning me into one!) After my leading United to a tremendous 4-0 against Swansea City last weekend, I was chosen to be the Official Punching-Bag of these United fans! A law was passed that I shall, henceforth, be informed of the schedule in advance and be required to watch every match! Imagine me being the reason for United’s victory! Who needs Mourinho when there’s Sneha! 😛 (yeah, I’m trying to showoff my knowledge for people to appreciate my efforts!) The only problem here is my choice will end up in my death at the hands of my Chelsea and Arsenal friends! Why, why do I always land up in such situations!
When I say my life has changed since the day I joined Liger, what I mean to say is that my becoming a CA didn’t play any role. Of course, the whole world is happy and celebrating my success but I’m quite disappointed, to be honest. I don’t know what I expected! For the degree to transform my life overnight? Maybe I did and let me tell you, life after July 19th has been just the same as it was before July 18th!
Lesson: Don’t let a degree rule your life! There’s so much more to life than struggling with exams and dying for results! There’s family, friends, fun, craziness, laughter and all that! Well, indirectly the degree did help me but DON’T get into details! Just get the point!
Cheers!
