I’m back home after the most eventful week of my life!!!
Before I sit to unpack all the suitcases, I thought I should put it all up on my blog! You guys really ought to know what’s happened!
I’ll not trouble you with long and detailed information lest you miss the best part! So, let me tell you what the ‘eventful week’ was all about!
You know me.. I’m the last one you can associate with any sort of adventure.. then one day PP happened! Ta-da! Suddenly activities like trekking, fitness and the likes of it fit into my dictionary!
We had a friend’s wedding to attend in Lucknow over the weekend. For months PP and I researched on what we could combine along with the Lucknow visit and finalised on Rishikesh. Having gone to Rishikesh earlier, PP wanted his wife to experience the River Rafting and Bungee Jump!
This one week trip had us covering Delhi and 3 other states – Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh!
The trip:
7 Feb:
– Flight from Mumbai to Delhi
– Picked up the self – drive car at Delhi Airport
– Drove to Gurgaon for a night with my cousin
8 Feb:
– Drove to Rishikesh (PP drove, I looked outside)
– Took a stroll through the market, did the booking for Rafting and Camping, ran on the Lakshman Jhula to check if it shook!
– Night stay at a hotel
(‘Wet N Wild Explorations’ definitely recommended for the booking)
9 Feb:
– Headed to the Rafting office from where they drove us along with a bunch of friendly foreigners to the start point ‘Marine Drive’. Opted for the longest distance that covers all rapids; 20 kms
– After a quick briefing, we headed out on the river for a wonderful, thrilling, chilling experience!
– Jumped into the river and washed away my ‘sins’ 😛
– Post rafting, drove to the campsite – ‘Moonlight Camp’
– PP and I were the ONLY occupants! Package included that day’s lunch, snacks, dinner and breakfast the next morning. Royal Treatment!
– Vigorous rowing, a drop in the temperature and cozy beds got us sleeping like babies!
Piece of advice: Never watch ‘Kudrat ka kanoon’ even at gunpoint!
10 Feb:
– Do.. Don’t do.. Do.. Don’t do..
That’s me battling with myself. To do or not to do the bungee jump. I can’t deny that I’m a coward.. what with being afraid of the dark and all! But it wasn’t the jump that made me hesitate. There was a high chance of the jerk hurting my not-so-strong neck.
– Watched the demo and decided to skip the bungee.
– Instead, I decided to do the Giant Swing!
– For those of you who don’t know, the Giant Swing, as the name suggests, is a swing! You have to jump off from the same bridge as the bungee jumper, from a height of 83 meters. The jump is as scary as the Bungee but you don’t hang upside down and there’s more body support! Whatever it is, I’m proud of myself 😀
– Walked in style across the Ram Jhula. I wanted to only because the title song of Bunty aur Babli was shot on that bridge! You can’t get Bollywood out of me! 😛
– On a friend’s request, visited the Mahesh Yogi Ashram that boasts of the Beatles graffiti. A long walk from the Ram jhula but a good place to visit even for those like us who have no connection with the Beatles
– Drove back to Gurgaon
11 Feb:
– Flight from Delhi to Lucknow
– Puja and mehendi
– Power nap followed by nightmare – Sneha and Pratik to do a dance performance
– I had to dance. It was for my brother! (The friend is also a brother to me)
– Youtubed numerous dance videos but I chose the song because there was no way I would dance to any of the latest songs.
– Song choice: ‘Oonchi hai building’ from Judwaa
– I don’t remember having so much fun doing something as simple as dance practice..Our attempts at coordinating and syncing the whole dance left us in splits!..and injuries, because there was little space in the room left with the luggage scattered all around! So stepping, banging, falling!
– Result: The dance was a super HIT! Nobody believed we had come up with the act in just two hours!
12 Feb:
– Late breakfast and early lunch
– Quick shopping
– Danced (tried to*) in the Shaadi baaraat with a lehenga that easily weighed 5 kilos!
– Attacked the huge spread of yummy food like there’s no tomorrow and probably put on 5 more kilos!
– Returned to the room at 4 a.m.
– Herculean task of packing our suitcases took us another half hour
– Crashed on the bed by 4.45 with the alarm set for 9.15
13 Feb:
– Off to Lucknow airport
– If it matters, I’ll also mention that we saw BJP’s Amit Shah at the Lucknow airport and Upen Patel (don’t bother doing Google search) at the Mumbai airport
– Back to Panvel at 6 p.m.
Tomorrow, Valentine’s day, is going to be really special for me.
I’m going to spend the day unpacking, clearing, washing and putting all clothes back to where they belong.
Day after tomorrow I’m going to fetch my books. Yes, study time is here. The activity that I’d forgotten about amidst all this travel and fun! I’d rather do the 83 meters jump again than study the same thing for the Nth time but that’s when realisation strikes;
I jumped 6 years ago. A jump much worse than the 83 meters one. A jump with a point of no return – CA!!
Leaving aside the study worry,
Three cheers for:
Me, having achieved so much in this one week.
PP, without whom nothing of this would have been possible!
The newly wed couple!
