βFor those of you who don’t know me, I’m the blogger who invented a ridiculous word ‘FIFTIER’!! π
So truthfully speaking, I’m not the best person to write an article on wrong / funny usage of English…but I shall because;
1) I’ve got nothing better to do at the moment,
2) I’m always looking forward to giving my readers a good laugh,
3) I just happened to come across such an instance.
One thing I learnt at an early stage during my three years of articleship was that CAs don’t necessarily need to be good in English. DON’T jump the gun guys. It’s not a universal thing. A majority out there could be better than me. I probably dealt with the lot that considers it okay to murder grammar!
So basically, I happen to be in a course that doesn’t care if my answer papers boast of impeccable English! (Kindly excuse me for using complicated words. I was just trying to prove my point!).
Well, I can’t blame them entirely..
I can hardly expect them to shower me with marks just because I used the best words in the dictionary to describe an Asset as a Liability! They’d pardon me for murdering grammar but.. lay a finger on Accounts and I’d find myself in my grave!
Aaah, that’s MY sad story. It’s not ICAI’s fault I recognised my skills late in life! So what I’ll do is, keep my love waiting, grab that degree and then reunite with my love. Love for English*
Coming to the ‘instance’ that’s the reason for this post..
For the last one week I have been troubling Google search with “CA final Nov 16 results” with the hope of finding the expected date of the D Day.
There are plenty of these CA sites that you can find online that provide you with all the information you need, like past papers, solutions, notes, revision tips, blah blah… And also the expected date of the results. It’s not too much work on their part, given the results are usually declared around the same date every year.
Now, one of these sites that I opened read;
“The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is conducted CA final exam every year in the month of May and in the month of November. Recently CA final Nov 16 exams are completed and everyone is waiting for results. CA final Result Nov 16 is expected to be declared in 3rd weak of January 2017.”
You could turn a blind eye to the start but can you handle the last bit? Wait a second! Did you even notice the error or did you miss it because you took a quick glance?
Honestly, when I read it, my WEAK heart couldn’t take the blow. OK, pun intended. π
I’ve also come across various blogs on an other CA site that give readers a lot of ‘What to do, What not to do’ gyaan but the grammatical errors in them switch on my auto-correct mode and I end up forgetting why I opened the blog in the first place!
Keeping the errors aside, these blogs take ‘Gyaan’ to another level altogether.
Today I found a link to ‘Managerial lessons from movie Dangal’.
Anyone interested in reading it can drop me a message. I’ll gladly forward you the article.
The writer must definitely be an Auditor to have analyzed the movie in such great detail as if it were a Balance Sheet! I mean, I was amazed by the way he’s connected the movie with CA. A few head points go by;
Goal in Life,
Identifying the Capabilities,
Handle Obstacles,
Capitalising Individual Strength.
Bloody hell!! This guy’s thought process is way heavier than Aamir Khan in Dangal!
Note: My gut tells me it’s a guy. Don’t ask why!
Okay, before my post gets heavy on your heads, I’ll stop!!
Hope ICAI doesn’t read my post and take offence. I can’t take any risk what with my results coming in a week’s time!
Thanks for all your good wishes.. in advance! π
Cheers!
