The real me revealed!

Realisation strikes!!

My Mother-in-law, much to her dismay, realised today that her daughter-in-law couldn’t get more opposite than this!

I’m happy though that it’s taken more than a year for her to figure it out 😛

Before you wonder what, why, how, let me remind you that a MIL-DIL relation works best when they’re different! That’s the law of the jungle! Else where’s the fun!?

So, yeah, back to my story.

MIL getting ready for a function in the society that I politely refused to attend.

(Those who know I don’t enjoy such social meets, would want to appreciate that post-wedding, I have been working on my socializing skills that a DIL is required to have!). I chose not to go because my exams are barely a month away! I don’t have the courage to take a break from books!

Guilty I am, since writing this post is obviously a ‘break’ but you know what I mean! I can do my writing while I’m plopped down on the bed with Mickey Mouse pants and a messy hairdo but attending a function calls for a whole lot of efforts for someone who doesn’t really enjoy getting dressed up! (Sarees and I don’t go hand-in-hand. For further details, you could read my post ‘The six yard woes!’)

So, my MIL asks for my opinion on something as she gets ready (Danger alert!) to which I have no suitable response 😀

So she, evidently upset, tells me “you’re the one who should be aware of the current fashion trends and tell me do this, do that!” I stifle a giggle and explain to her that unfortunately she’s got herself a DIL who couldn’t be more opposite!

She’s got a DIL who’s a girl but a tomboy at heart.. far far away from fashion! Looking back, I can tell you I have evolved!

What used to be a boy cut is now hair upto my shoulders. Honestly, should have been the other way round given I’m losing my hair over CA!

T shirts have taken a back seat for tunics and tops.

Loose jeans are replaced by better fitting ones, at least in my opinion!

Somethings haven’t changed though.

I still don’t do make-up and I’d be glad to give you my stuff!

I wear clothes that rate more on comfort quotient than on looks.

Basically, I’d like nothing more than to stay home and read a book or go out and grab a pizza!

To sum up, I think I’ve all the qualifications for a writer! Casual, weird, silly and fun!

Well as far as MIL is concerned, I know other ways of being in her good books! *Secret*

Cheers!
